Each drummer feels comfortable with certain type of drum sticks. The tip, Shaft, shoulder and butt varies and so does the option of drummer. But few guide lines when followed will help choosing drum sticks

- sticks should be of equal weight
- sticks should be straight , try rolling them to find out if they are straight
- do not choose tip which have sharp (nearly sharp) edge. they might damage the leather on drums
- ppl prefer bit heavy drum sticks for rock and light sticks for county/light music. So the weight purely depends on the person who is playing and what he is playing.
- for beginners try selecting bit heavy sticks ..as and when you proceed you will learn what kind of stick you need.

And so does the bigshots have their own custom made drum sticks, with particular type of wood its made also..

Feed

musical notation

Musical Notation on wikipedia is one hell of information.. lots to read and thumbs up for ppl who made it happen
Feed

time signatures on wikipedia

Beat is the basic time unit of a piece, a metric.
4/4 is what I saw and wondered what it was about.
